# Add a demand event

> Add an extra order or a percentage lift for a product or brand over a range of weeks.

Use a demand event when you know about demand the history can't predict: a one-off order, a display promotion, a festival.

1. Open **Demand events**.
2. Choose one SKU, or all SKUs of a brand.
3. Choose the weeks the event covers.
4. Choose the type:
   * **% lift** raises the model's forecast across the chosen products and weeks.
   * **Quantity** adds a fixed number of selling units on top.
5. Add the customer or context and a note.
6. Select **Add event & recalculate**.

> [!WARNING]
>
> Quantity means the selected selling unit. A 4-pack is not the same as a loose can or a 24-can case. Check the pack size before you save.

## How events combine with other changes

* A week override still wins over a % lift.
* Quantity events are added after the override, so an override doesn't erase them.

## Remove an event

Use the event's **Remove** form and add a note explaining why the demand no longer applies. The removal goes into the decision log.

## After you save

Check **Forecast grid** and **Materials plan**: an extra order can create a packaging shortfall even when the original forecast was covered. When the team should see the change, [publish a plan](https://docs.elevatedsignals.ai/essence/how-to/publish-a-plan.md).
