# Check packaging order dates

> Find which packs can't be filled and when to order more.

1. Open **Materials plan**.
2. Read the summary at the top: how much demand can't be packed, and the earliest order-by date.
3. In the table, each row is a pack and week. Look at:
   * **Can't be packed**: selling units with no packaging available that week.
   * **What runs out**: the item that limits that pack.
   * **Order by**: the date to place an order so it arrives in time, using the lead time and safety buffer in your settings. Dates already passed are marked as overdue.
4. Expand **Finished-stock coverage** to see how much demand finished beer in stock already covers.

## Check the inputs before you order

Packaging stock, open orders, the pieces each pack needs and lead times are planning inputs. Planners can edit them in the expandable sections on the page. Save each change with a note.

> Essence does not place orders or track deliveries. Confirm stock and open orders before acting on an order-by date.
