# System administration

> For client-side technical administrators.

## User & role management

Provision users, assign roles, and manage account status. Existing-user changes require a reason for change.

### Bulk import

Importing a spreadsheet **will not modify people who already have accounts** unless you tick
**update existing users**. Rows for existing people are skipped and reported back to you, so a
re-import cannot quietly change someone's role. You cannot alter your own account through an
import.

## Password resets

Who may reset a password depends on how many facilities the person works in.

<Note>
  **One facility** — an administrator at that facility resets the password, as normal.

  **More than one facility** — the administrator **cannot** reset it. That person resets their own
  password through self-service.
</Note>

This is deliberate. When someone signs in at several facilities, a single administrator resetting
their password would be changing a credential that also grants access at facilities that
administrator has no authority over — and those facilities would have no visibility of the change.
The interface will explain this rather than failing silently.

If a multi-facility user is locked out and cannot self-serve, contact your ES representative;
recovery is handled through an audited channel rather than by widening administrator authority.

## Organization configuration

Configure org-level settings and closure SLAs.

## Feature flags

Capabilities roll out behind flags (global → org → user precedence). Ask your ES contact which flags
are enabled for your organization.

## Electronic signature setup

Controlled transitions require an electronic signature; signing re-verifies the user's credential at the point of signing and records the signer, timestamp, and meaning.

## Import validation and invitation handling

Use [Validate and import CSV](/invariant/reference/settings#validate-and-import-csv) for the current
administrator workflow. Successful validation now saves an audited report without creating the
predicted records. Actual import and invitation delivery are separate outcomes.

[Settings](/invariant/reference/settings#invitations-and-account-status) also explains outstanding
invitation withdrawal, the optional invitation-status display, and the reason requirements for new
versus existing sites and licences. None of these changes enables an optional feature for your
organization automatically.
